THE LEADERSHIP CONTINUUM

SigEps are leaders. SigEp alumni are university Presidents, CEOs, famous actors, prominent authors, extraordinary astronauts and scientists, senators and military officers, and all-star athletes. And it all started with their four year experience as a SigEp.

The SigEp Leadership Continuum consists of six major events that bring SigEps from across the country. In the Leadership Continuum, members attend conferences located anywhere from the secluded forests of Northern Idaho, to the ancient coast of Greece, an experience unmatched by any other Fraternity in the nation. Below you can find more information on each leadership event.

RUCK Leadership Institute

52 RUCK scholars are selected from across the nation to attend the RUCK Leadership Institute in Richmond, VA, the birthplace of SigEp in 1901. Ruck scholars have their minds and bodies challenged as they live out the Balanced Man ideal in an intense, five day program. New habits of leadership are reformed, and old habits are refined, and by the program's end, Ruck scholars are eager to return home to uplift their chapters to new heights, high above the college standard.

Congratulations to our recent RUCK scholars include Evan Fossen ('16) and Cesar Rivera ('14) and Christopher Morucci ('17), who have made SigEp the premeir organization in Fraternity and Soroity on the University of Montana's campus!

Tragos: Quest to Greece

Tragos: Quest to Greece is an unparalleled leadership experience, unmatched in the collegiate world. Participants are stretched to their fullest potential during a 10-day excursion to Greece, pooling their diverse backgrounds as they become something far greater than themselves. Only 14 participants are selected from the nation's undergraduate members, and the Montana Alpha chapter is lucky to have one of our own selected to partake in this extraodinary journey, based on Homer's epic poem The Iliad.

Recent Traigos scholars include our current president Spencer Ruchti! In summer of 2015, he will be travelling to Greece for this amazing experience, and will be bringing this experience back to his chapter.

Carlson Leadership Academy

At CLA, seven SigEp officers go to California to learn how to help their chapter excel above other Fraternities on campus. The two day experience includes intensive leadership training, specific training on officer positions and responsibilites, an awards banquet that honors chapters who have excelled in everything from recruitment to extraordinary acts of Brotherly Love, quality time with other SigEp chapters from across the region, and networking with estemmed SigEp alumni from across the country.

Grand Chapter Conclave

Conclave is the largest gathering of SigEps from across the world. Our chapter delegates two members to spend five days at a beautiful hotel resort, where they work on legislative grand chapter bylaws, attend leadership workshops, and relax by the pool or golf course. Conclave is a time to catch up with old SigEp friends, meet famous alumni (like actor John Goodman -- The Big Lebowski and Monster's, Inc. -- who regularly attends Conclave), and attend banquets with your brothers from across the country.

Life After College

Life After College, SigEp’s newest leadership event, is focused on preparing upperclassman to be successful personally and professionally as they transition from college to the ‘real world’. Life After College is designed to equip SigEp upperclassmen with the guidance, tools and techniques they will need to stand out among job applicants and keep up with the life skills they will need when they are on their own.

At this one-day event, participants learn:

  • How to find a career they are passionate about

  • Best practices for resume writing

  • How to be successful in the job search process

  • Proper business etiquette

  • Strategies for how to best manage their finances after college

  • And much more!

Throughout the day, participants can network and ask questions of the successful alumni, local business leaders, and human resource professionals who are facilitating these sessions. Besides just preparing the participants professionally for life after college, facilitators also spent time empowering the participants to think about and plan how they will maintain a sound mind and sound body after college and live a life guided by the principles of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love.

EDGE

EDGE is a high-energy overnight program that offers SigEp’s newest members the type of outside-the-classroom education that is hard to find at most colleges and universities. Join other SigEps from across your region as you get leadership training that will help you become successful in your chapter, on your campus, and in your community, while facing the issues that deal with the transition into college life.
